Air Shaft เป็นเพลาที่สร้างขึ้นเพื่อใช้ในการยึดแกนของม้วนวัสดุต่างๆให้ยึดติดแน่นเข้ากับเพลา เพื่อประโยชน์ในการถ่ายวัสดุออกจากม้วน และทำการม้วนวัสดุเก็บเข้าแกนให้เรียบร้อยสวยงาม ซึ่งจะพบได้ในอุตสาหกรรมต่างๆหลายชนิด Air Shaftจะขยายตัวขึ้นทันทีเมื่อได้รับแรงดันจากอากาศที่อัดเข้าไป ทำให้เกิดการยึดจับแกนของม้วนวัสดุให้ติดแน่นกับเพลาอย่างแน่นหนา มั่นคงและรวดเร็ว โดยไม่ทำความเสียหายต่อแกนหรือม้วนวัสดุ ในทำนองเดียวกัน สามารถถอดแกนหรือม้วนวัสดุออกจากAir Shaftได้อย่างง่ายดาย เพียงแค่กดKeysหรือLugsซึ่งอยู่ระหว่างAir Shaftและแกนของม้วนวัสดุเท่านั้น มันก็จะยุบตัวลงทำให้ดึงเอาม้วนวัสดุออกได้ Air Shaftประกอบด้วยชิ้นส่วนหลัก3 ส่วนคือ โครงสร้างที่ทำขึ้นจากโลหะที่แข็งแรง ทนทานเช่นเหล็กกล้าหรืออลูมิเนียมอัลลอย ถุงลมทำด้วยยางธรรมชาติแบบยืดหยุ่นและพองโตขึ้นได้เมื่อเติมอากาศเข้าไป และ Journalหรือหัวของเพลาทำจากโลหะที่ได้รับการชุบให้แข็งด้วยเกลือฟอสฟอรัสบางๆ ด้วยการออกแบบโครงสร้างที่ไม่ซับซ้อนที่ดูน่าเชื่อถือได้สูง ประกอบกับอัตราส่วนของความสามารถในการรับแรงดึงต่อน้ำหนักมีมาก ทำให้มั่นใจได้ในความแข็งแรงทนทาน ความเชื่อถือในประสิทธิภาพการใช้งาน และค่าใช้จ่ายใการบำรุงรักษาที่ประหยัด ตลอดจนความสะดวกสบายในการใช้งาน
