PS-24 & PS-90 Power Amplifier

For current regulated power to Magnetic Particle Clutches and Brakes
C
ontrol any size clutch or brake with optimum resolution with the PS-24 & PS-90 Power Supplies.  These current regulated power supplies are used for the control of magnetic particle clutches and brakes in unwind, rewind, or intermediate tension control applications.

The PS-24 & PS-90 provide a small amount of reverse current circuitry as a standard feature to minimize the drag torque of a clutch / brake, allowing greater controllability in the lowest torque range.  With selectable current ranges, these compact enclosures can be mounted inside the machine cabinet, allowing your operator to adjust torque through a remotely mounted potentiometer.  Alternatively, the PS-24 & PS-90 can be controlled by a 0-10 VDC input from a PLC or other automatic control device.  Both power supplies mount inside the Cygnus-E tension control as convenient package.

Key Features:

  • Provides control for a magnetic particle clutch or brake
  • Current regulated output in selectable ranges
  • Manually adjusts through a remotely mounted potentiometer or controlled by a 0 to 10 VDC input from an automatic controller
  • Compact enclosure requires minimal space
  • Conveniently mounts inside the Cygnus-E enclosure
  • Simplicity of DIN rail mounting CE compliant and UL listed

3B123-1RPL Isolated Power Amplifier

MAGPOWR - SPyder LC Tension ControlThe 3B123-1 RPL is a current regulated power supply printed circuit card.  This unit can be designed into your control system to operate magnetic particle clutches and brakes up to 1 amp at 90 VDC.  This current regulator has four selectable ranges, 1/8,1/4, 1/2, and 1 amp.  It also incorporates reverse current ability as a standard feature.  This allows greater controllability in the lowest torque ranges of the clutch or brake being operated.

The circuit card can be mounted in the equipment cabinet, and the operator can control the clutch or brake by remote control console.  If desired, the unit can alternately be controlled by a 0 to 10 VDC from a PLC or other device.

TC-5/TC-5P Current Regulated Power Supply

It’s a dependable current regulated power supply that will operate all standard MAGPOWR clutches and brakes. The MAGPOWR TC-5 is a solid state current regulated 90 VDC power supply. It has four current ranges of 1/8, ¼, ½ and 1 amp. The current range is selected by a simple jumper on the circuit board. This unit also includes reverse current circuitry as a standard feature, thus allowing greater controllability in the lowest torque range of the clutch or brake being operated.

It’s easy to work with. The front panel meter indicates the current output and automatically reads full scale for each current range selected. The operator controls the output by rotating the front panel potentiometer. The TC-5 is available as an enclosure mounted control, while the TC-5P is a front panel mounted unit. It’s your choice. Download the brochure, send us a request for quote or call us right away.

Key Features:

  • Four current ranges 1/8, ¼, ½ and 1 amp
  • Enclosure mounted or front panel mounted options
  • Reverse current circuitry provides greater control in low-torque applications
  • Operates MAGPOWR Magnetic Particle Brakes and Clutches with 90 VDC coils
  • Reverse current -3.6 to 90 VDC

Specifications:

Regulation: Better than 2% of range selected

Temperature Range:  Operating 0 to 40 degrees Celsius

Meter: Reads 0 to 100% of selected current

PA-90 & PA-2 Power Amplifiers, 24 and 90 vdc

Designed to power magnetic particle clutches and brakes
T
he PA-90 and PA-2 Power Amplifiers are designed to provide the extra current required for controlling magnetic particle brakes and clutches in any tension control application. For use with DIGITRAC II , EZ-Trac, or VERSATEC, the PA-90 and PA-2 can be mounted inside the control's enclosure, and receives its control signals directly from the tension control.  This unit also includes reverse current circuitry as a standard feature, thus allowing greater controllability in the lowest torque range of the clutch or brake being operated.

The PA-90 is used to control 90 VDC brakes and clutches only, while the PA-2 can be used to control either 24 or 90 VDC units. With 115 VAC input, either power amplifier will provide a 3.6 to 90 VDC, current regulated output to accurately control a 90 VDC brake or clutch. With a 24 VDC input, the PA-2 can also provide a 1.2 to 24 VDC, current regulated output to accurately control a 24 VDC unit.

Specifications:

PA-2: With 115 VAC input: -3.6 to 90 VDC, with selectable current ranges 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 amp maximum

With 24 VDC input: -1.2 to 24 VDC, with selectable current ranges 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2 amp maximum
